Running tracks to keep you fit

You don’t always need a gym membership to stay fit. A simple jog or run is a great start as well. If you live in Dubai, you are in luck since this city has some superb open air running tracks. We’ve made an easy list for you here so you can go ahead and enjoy the benefits they offer.

You can also take advantage of these tracks and make your visit an outdoor routine with your family.  Some of these options have great play areas for your children to enjoy while you to take in your run! Alternately, you can also make it an after-work run with work-buddies, if any of these tracks are close to your office place.

Al Barsha Pond Park

Beautiful gardens around a lovely pond create a charming spot for an evening run. Al Barsha Pond Park is open until 10 pm every day, free of cost. It's got a 1.4-kilometer route lined with flowers and is marked every 100 meters so that you can track your progress.

Burj Park

If you prefer a quiet evening jog, head over to Burj Park in downtown Dubai. With wide tree-lined pavements and picturesque views of the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountains, it’s one of the most scenic running trails in Dubai.

The Beach, JBR

Approximately 2 kilometers long, The Beach is ideal for runners who want a soft track. It’s also lined with a nifty outdoor gym and playgrounds so that you can plug in more into your workout.

Zabeel Park

Located between Al Karama and World Trade Centre, Zabeel Park is one of the biggest and best parks for sports lovers in the city. With a size equivalent to 45 football fields, there’s plenty of room for everyone. It has tracks for jogging, BMX and skateboarding as well as a cricket pitch, golf course, play areas and a fitness centre.

Bay Avenue Park

Check out the Bay Avenue Park in Business Bay. It’s equipped with a kilometre-long running route as well as free outdoor gymnasiums and a skate park.

Jumeirah Beach

This recently developed track begins at the Dubai Marine Beach Resort and ends 14 kilometres later at the Burj Al Arab. It’s one of the most iconic coastlines in Dubai and provides plenty of inspiration to get you up and moving, including palm trees, pristine sands and bright blue waters.

Al Ittihad Park, The Palm Jumeirah

With a lap of 2.7 kilometers, Al Ittihad Park’s runner’s course spans the length of the island’s ‘trunk’ and has a rubber surface that’s gentle on the knees. It also has workout stations if you want to break up your run with other exercises, as well as playgrounds to entertain your kids.

Mamzar Park

The dual benefits that this beach-side park has to offer is easy to take in - whether you prefer a run in the park, a jog along the soft white sand or then a little of both!

Dubai Canal Boardwalk

The city’s proud new boardwalk stretches from all the way from Business Bay to Jumeirah and runs parallel to Safa Park. It’s easily accessible by metro and gives you a stunning view of Downtown Dubai. Plans are afoot to connect it with the popular track at Jumeirah Beach - giving runners one of the longest continuous running routes in the city.

So take charge and take advantage of these awesome spaces Dubai has to offer. You’ll be surprised how staying fit can be enjoyable too!
